What is Cagrilintide?
Cagrilintide is an experimental, longer-acting version of a hormone signal called amylin. Amylin is normally released by the pancreas around meals and helps coordinate messages involving the digestive system and brain, including signals related to fullness and how quickly food leaves the stomach.
Researchers study cagrilintide alone and with other agents, measuring appetite-related responses, body weight and metabolic outcomes. It is not a GLP-1 agonist, although it is often discussed beside GLP-1 research. Trials are ongoing, so current findings do not establish general safety or effectiveness outside controlled studies.
