What is NAD+?
NAD+ is a molecule found in living cells, but it is not a peptide. Cells use it to move electrons during chemical reactions, which helps turn nutrients into usable energy. Cells also use NAD+ in several signaling and repair-related processes.
Because it is important inside cells, researchers study how the body makes, recycles and uses NAD+ and related precursors. But showing that a molecule is important inside a cell does not prove that adding more creates a health benefit. Human research on administered NAD+ remains limited and depends on formulation and route.
